The demand for this service (cloud computing) is moving up very quickly. As also reported by CloudCheckr, in a survey of over 300 IT professionals and business stakeholders from large-sized companies, 57% reported that more than half of their infrastructure is in the cloud. The report also pointed out that 64% of the surveyed audience expects that they will fully switch to the public cloud within the next five years.

– According to Statista, the global public cloud computing market was set to exceed $362 billion in 2022.
– IDG also reported that the average cloud budget was up from $1.62 million in 2016 to a whopping $2.2 million today (2021).
– In 2018 alone, Amazon Web Services (AWS) earned $26 billion in revenue.
– Respondents of the survey conducted by CloudCheckr said that were a few significant barriers to cloud migration. This included security concerns (44%), compliance and regulations (42%), and lack of application support (41%).
– 93% of the surveyed audience said that their organizations faced blockers with budgeting infrastructure cloud costs.
– 94% of them said that they experienced unexpected cloud costs.
– 31% of them said that they were able to monitor and optimize public cloud costs effectively.

That said, Digital Transformation gradually became a buzzword over the last few years. All businesses whether small, medium, or large enterprises began moving their operations to the cloud by adopting online productivity and collaboration services. In 2020, this journey of digital transformation was pushed further with the COVID-19 induced lockdowns all around the world. This gave rise to the need for remote working.

In the aftermath of this crisis, the worldwide end-user spending on public cloud services was forecasted to grow 18.4% in 2021 to a total of $304.9 billion as per Gartner.
