Making use of \u20ac421 million from the public financing fund from a total of \u20ac667 million, 23 research and development projects have already been selected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Must Read<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turningcloud.com\/blog\/what-the-cloud-computing-industry-expects-to-face-in-2022\/\"><strong>What the Cloud Computing Industry Expects to Face in 2022?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Announcing the initiative from the Paris office of French cloud computing firm OVHcloud, C\u00e9dric O, the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs of France, in his statement said: \u201cToday we implement a long-held ambition to bring about the emergence of French and European industrial champions.\u201d Adding that by 2025, close to two billion euros would be mobilised for the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Developed jointly with the cloud industry, this economic plan is the third pillar of the French national strategy for the cloud and is also part of the fourth Programme d\u2019investissements d\u2019avenir (PIA4) and France Relance.<\/p>\n<p>From what we&#8217;ve gathered, 85% of available funding will be for SMEs, start-ups, research institutes, open-source projects or projects that aim to relocate their industrial activities to France. That, and a new call for expressions of interest will open before the end of 2021 that will focus on projects on collaborative work (SaaS). This will be developed in coordination with the other digital strategies launched by their government.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation stated, &#8220;The emergence of a French and European Cloud is an essential issue for the digital and technological sovereignty of our country and for the competitiveness of our industry. An unprecedented effort of \u20ac1.8 billion, including nearly 100 million for cutting-edge research and training, is mobilised to support the French Cloud industry.
